As is the norm every year, Atlassian will be updating the licensing cost for a number of its key cloud products on 16th October 2024. These pricing and packaging changes will impact both list and advantaged Atlassian customers.
Atlassian will be revising the Cloud list pricing for the following products and plans:

- Confluence licenses across Standard, Premium, and Enterprise plans
- Jira Service Management across Standard, Premium, and Enterprise plans
- Opsgenie pricing across Essentials, Standard, and Enterprise plans

- Atlassian Guard Standard plan
- Compass Standard plan
Atlassian Cloud advantaged pricing will also be updated for:

Why is Atlassian Updating Its Cloud Product Cost?
Atlassian’s portfolio encompasses a whole suite of seamlessly integrated products that offer a flexible choice to organisations of all sizes. Be it Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, or Opsgenie, these products can be deployed collectively or purchased as stand-alone software.
Atlassian strives to ensure that their industry-agnostic products remain best-of-breed in the market. Therefore, they regularly adjust their prices to reflect the enhancements and new features that are constantly added to their product suite. Typically, Atlassian cloud pricing fluctuations happen once a year, usually around early- to mid-October. This annual price increase is part of Atlassian’s business strategy to support ongoing innovation, maintain product quality, and provide excellent customer service.
How Would Atlassian Cloud Pricing Changes Affect Existing Customers?
Atlassian will be increasing both list and advantaged pricing for its cloud customers on October 16, 2024, by 5% to 20%. This would effectively impact any new Atlassian cloud product purchase or license renewals that happen on or after this date.
Atlassian list pricing offers four different pricing plans that help companies—whether SMBs, enterprises, or non-profit organisations—meet their differing needs. These prices are competitive and offer a variety of features for a lesser price, in comparison to Atlassian competitors.
Atlassian advantaged pricing plans, on the other hand, are prices offered below existing list prices to help tenured Atlassian customers ease gradually to list prices over time, without having to absorb the impact at one go. Customers opting for the advantaged plan still receive access to all the features and support of their chosen software.
Atlassian usually notifies customers about upcoming price adjustments about a month in advance. They communicate these changes through email notifications, updates on their website, as well as through their solution partners, such as Corptec Technology Partners. This proactive approach gives customers time to plan for budget adjustments if needed.

How Can Existing Customers Prepare for Atlassian’s Upcoming Cloud Pricing Changes?
To effectively navigate pricing changes, Atlassian is offering customers a grace period on affected features that will lessen the impact of these updates.
For example, Jira Service Management Standard customers will receive a 12-month grace period on their next renewal term on or after October 16, 2024. At the end of their grace period, access will be revoked to the incident, problem, and change management features that are moving to Premium or Enterprise. This means that customers will need to upgrade in order to continue using them.
Regardless, we can help you put together an action plan to respond effectively to Atlassian’s 2025 pricing and packaging updates.
Atlassian Jira Pricing Updates 2025—Here’s Your Action Plan!
1. Scenario: You’re an existing on-premise customer receiving no technical support, security updates, or vulnerability fixes for your current Atlassian server products—since Atlassian stopped offering support for their server products on February 15, 2024.
Challenge: Since you’re unable to access product enhancements and new features on your server products, you need to migrate either to the Atlassian cloud or to the Atlassian Data Centre. With this impending price increase, this is likely to turn out to be costly altogether.
Action Plan: The first step is to assess your Cloud or Data Centre migration readiness. Corptec’s experienced Atlassian consultants can help you with a free assessment of your current instances. This includes a detailed instance-by-instance audit of your organisation’s usage of Atlassian licenses, based on your projects and configurations.
Our migration readiness assessment can help you review your license usage by documenting the exact number of product licenses being used in your organisation and analysing if there are redundant licenses being paid for. Doing this assessment can help you achieve significant savings for your team.
Post the free audit, if you do decide on a Cloud or Data Centre migration, we can provide you with hands-on support and manage your migration needs end-to-end—starting from the planning phase to the post-migration maintenance phase. Being Atlassian’s select partner gives us access to exclusive benefits that you can avail when you partner with us.
2. Scenario: You’re an existing Atlassian cloud customer looking to renew your Jira, JSM, Bitbucket, Confluence, or other Atlassian product licenses.
Challenge: You’re now hesitant about renewing your licenses since you’re worried that you might go over budget with the upcoming price increase.
Action Plan: Atlassian customers looking to renew their licenses can leverage Corptec’s exclusive partner benefits to get the best possible pricing quote. Our free assessment includes a detailed instance-by-instance audit of your organisation’s usage of Atlassian licenses, based on your projects and configurations. It helps you review your license usage and identify if there are redundant or barely-used licenses being paid for.
We can also provide you with a comprehensive user analysis, identify areas of improvement, provide suggestions for a licensing clean-up, and offer you a possible price reduction.

3. Scenario: You’re an existing Atlassian cloud customer maintaining multiple Confluence or Jira instances in your organisation for different purposes or departments. As a result, all of them are on different billing cycles.
Challenge: With multiple instances spread across your company, you’ve identified that some instances are on a monthly plan while others are on an annual plan. Not only are you unable to leverage bulk discounts, you might have higher overall costs due to duplicate subscriptions and missed opportunities for consolidation savings.
Action Plan: Corptec can help you initiate an instance reconciliation before the 2025 price update comes into effect, through which you can consolidate multiple Atlassian instances into one. This can ensure that your licensing and operational costs as well as administrative overheads are significantly reduced. Our Atlassian consultants can assist you in deploying Atlassian Data Centre products in a clustered architecture, helping you save more.
Optimise your instance landscape and achieve seamless instance reconciliation! Avail our select Atlassian partner benefits now!
4. Scenario: You’re an existing Atlassian cloud customer with only monthly subscription plans for your instances. However, your requirement of instances constantly fluctuates based on project or organisational changes.
Challenge: Due to the increasing number of instances acquired over the course of your Atlassian subscription, you’ve acquired more subscriptions for the same plan without any forethought. You’re now unsure how you might be affected once the pricing updates take place.
Action Plan: At Corptec, we advise customers to carefully analyse how many instances or copies of the product are being used across departments. We also offer three different types of free usage audit and hygiene reports to help analyse our customers’ product and add-on usage. If they have a fluctuating requirement of instances, we recommend continuing with their monthly subscriptions.
However, if they see a steady incline in the number of instances being used and are confident about using Atlassian products in the long term, we advise them to consider an Enterprise plan as well as a multi-year contract to lock in their current Jira, Confluence, or Access pricing. An annual subscription with a multi-year commitment will allow you to maintain your current pricing for the duration of your contract, providing cost predictability.
Corptec also offers our customers the option to lock in their prices for up to two years—ensuring that they are effectively safeguarded from Atlassian’s annual price increase. Moreover, we offer special prices, which are only available with select Atlassian solution partners!
