As a trusted Atlassian Gold Solution and Implementation Partner in Australia and the United States, Corptec Technology Partners has been empowering Atlassian customers with the best that Atlassian’s suite of products has to offer since 2018. Our Atlassian consultants often field the question of Atlassian Jira licensing cost increase from our customers. In this blog, we’ll help you understand how you can navigate these upcoming Atlassian Jira Cloud pricing changes.
Why is Atlassian updating its cloud product cost?
Atlassian’s portfolio encompasses a whole suite of seamlessly integrated products that offer a flexible choice to organisations of all sizes. Be it Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, or JSM, these products can be deployed collectively or purchased as stand-alone software.
Atlassian strives to ensure that its industry-agnostic products remain best-of-breed in the market. Therefore, they regularly adjust their prices to reflect the enhancements and new features that are constantly added to their product suite. Typically, Atlassian Jira Cloud pricing fluctuations happen once a year, usually around early to mid-October. This annual price increase is part of Atlassian’s business strategy to support ongoing innovation, maintain product quality, and provide excellent customer service.
In 2026, Atlassian is updating its Cloud list prices to reflect the latest innovations and platform enhancements delivered across Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management, Bitbucket, the Teamwork Collection, and Atlassian Guard.
- Atlassian has introduced 159 new features to Jira—including redesigned work items, a reimagined list view, renamed work item types, new public intake forms, and project templates.
- Atlassian has evolved Confluence into a truly collaborative workspace, adding 172 new features such as whiteboards, databases, live docs, AI-powered content suggestions, and automation tools.
- Jira Service Management will now offer purpose-built HRSM capabilities, with more than 30 templates, orchestration tools, HR integrations, end-to-end AIOps, and enterprise-grade asset management.
Additionally, Atlassian has expanded its enterprise-grade offerings with 49 new features. These include doubling Jira user limits to 100,000, tripling Confluence site limits to 150,000 users, expanding data residency, and adding new compliance certifications such as C5 and IRAP.
Atlassian’s Teamwork Graph now maps more than 10 billion data objects, powering analytics, AI, and automations. The platform also introduces new apps (such as Home, Goals, and Teams), which provide real-time visibility and reduce context switching.
How will Atlassian Jira Cloud customers be notified?
Atlassian usually notifies customers about upcoming price adjustments over a month in advance. They communicate these changes through email notifications, updates on their website, as well as through their solution partners, such as Corptec. This proactive approach gives customers time to plan for budget adjustments if needed.

How would open and ongoing purchases be impacted?
For new purchases and upgrades, any open quotes on the effective date cannot extend beyond November 13, 2025 (PT), while renewal quotes must not extend beyond January 12, 2026 (PT). Quote extensions will remain valid for up to 90 days, but never beyond these dates.
Beginning October 14, 2025 (PT), expired quotes can no longer be restored, and all new quotes will reflect FY26 pricing. Additionally, any edits made to existing quotes after this date will automatically trigger recalculations at the updated pricing.

Atlassian Jira Cloud Pricing Updates 2026—Here’s Your Action Plan!
Atlassian’s upcoming changes to quotes, renewals, and pricing timelines will directly affect how your organisation plans and manages its Atlassian Cloud products. To help you prepare and respond effectively to Atlassian’s 2026 pricing and packaging updates, we’ve broken this down into key scenarios and outlined exactly how Corptec can support you in each case.
Scenario 1: You’re planning a new purchase or upgrade of Atlassian products.
Challenge: Under Atlassian’s updated policy, any open quotes for new purchases or upgrades cannot extend beyond November 13, 2025 (PT). If you don’t finalise your purchase before this date, you’ll lose the ability to secure today’s pricing, and new quotes issued afterwards will reflect FY26 pricing. This could result in unexpected cost increases if you delay approvals or purchasing decisions.
Action Plan: If your team is planning on expanding its Jira, Confluence, JSM, or Bitbucket usage in the near future, now is the time to act. Corptec’s certified Atlassian consultants can help you prepare quotes for additional licenses or upgrades and ensure they are locked in before the cut-off date. We can also review your planned expansions against your actual product usage so you don’t over-purchase. Acting early gives you the certainty of current pricing and avoids last-minute budget surprises.
Scenario 2: You’re an existing Atlassian customer renewing licenses for Jira, Confluence, JSM, or other Atlassian products affected by the upcoming price increase.
Challenge: Renewal quotes now have a hard stop date of January 12, 2026 (PT). Any renewal processed after this date will fall under FY26 pricing, which is expected to be higher. Customers who rely on multi-year contracts or large renewal cycles are particularly at risk of exceeding budgets if they don’t align their renewal dates in advance.
Action Plan: Corptec can help you secure renewal quotes before January 12, 2026 (PT), ensuring you lock in existing pricing for as long as possible. Our free licensing audit reviews your team’s actual product usage to highlight redundant or unused licenses. This way, you’ll not only renew at current pricing but also cut unnecessary costs. If you’re considering a multi-year commitment, we can help you take advantage of Atlassian partner benefits that protect your budget and offer predictable costs through FY26 and beyond.
Scenario 3: You have expired quotes that you were planning to restore.
Challenge: Starting October 14, 2025 (PT), expired quotes cannot be restored. In the past, you may have been able to revive an old quote and extend it, but Atlassian’s new policy eliminates this option. Any new quotes you request after this date will automatically reflect FY26 pricing, even if the original quote was based on current pricing.
Action Plan: If you have any pending quotes that are close to expiration, it’s critical to finalise them before October 14, 2025 (PT). Corptec can help you review your outstanding quotes, validate whether the quantities and products are correct for your needs, and accelerate the approval process. This ensures you don’t lose the opportunity to purchase at today’s lower rates. We also recommend aligning internal budget approvals with Atlassian’s new timelines to avoid being caught off guard.
Scenario 4: You need to edit or update an existing quote after October 14, 2025.
Challenge: Atlassian has introduced a new rule where any edits made to a quote after October 14, 2025 (PT) will trigger an automatic recalculation at the new FY26 pricing. Even small changes — such as adjusting the number of users, switching products, or modifying billing terms — will cause the system to update the quote with higher pricing. This could lead to unplanned budget increases for customers who delay or frequently revise their quotes.
Action Plan: The safest strategy is to ensure your quotes are accurate and finalised before October 14, 2025. Corptec can perform a license usage review to make sure your quotes are aligned with your actual needs, so you don’t need to make last-minute adjustments. If you anticipate changes, we can also advise on how to structure your purchase to minimise the risk of triggering new pricing. Acting proactively will help you avoid unnecessary recalculations and keep your licensing costs predictable.
Scenario 5: You’re an existing Atlassian Cloud customer maintaining multiple Confluence or Jira instances across departments.
Challenge: Many organisations run separate instances for different business units, projects, or departments. This often means each instance is on a different billing cycle, leading to renewals spread across the year. With Atlassian’s new rules and pricing deadlines, scattered renewals create added risk—some instances may renew at current pricing, while others will roll into FY26 pricing at higher rates.
Action Plan: Corptec can help you consolidate or align billing cycles across your multiple instances. By standardising renewal timelines, you can simplify financial planning, reduce administrative overhead, and maximise savings by locking in as much of your licensing under current pricing as possible. We’ll also review whether consolidating instances into fewer environments makes sense for your business.
Scenario 6: You’re an existing Atlassian Cloud customer on monthly subscription plans with fluctuating instance needs.
Challenge: If your organisation relies on monthly billing because project demands shift often, Atlassian’s pricing changes could leave you exposed to higher costs without warning. Every time your instance count changes — adding or removing Jira or Confluence sites — you risk falling into the new FY26 pricing structure as soon as changes are made. This unpredictability can strain budgets and make it hard to forecast costs.
Action Plan: Corptec can help you assess whether moving some or all of your subscriptions to annual billing cycles provides greater stability. For customers with genuinely variable needs, we can build a flexible licensing plan that balances monthly adjustments with long-term cost protection. Our team will also monitor usage trends to ensure you’re not over-provisioning and paying for instances that are no longer required.
Atlassian Jira cloud pricing updates 2026: How Corptec can help you save more
As a leading Atlassian Gold Solution & Implementation Partner, Corptec is here to help you reduce the impact of the upcoming Atlassian price increase and make the most of your Atlassian investment.
One of the most effective steps is to switch from monthly to annual billing. By moving to an annual plan, you can lock in your current pricing for the full year, giving you greater predictability in your IT budgets and shielding you from short-term fluctuations. This approach is especially valuable for organisations that want cost stability without having to monitor usage changes month by month.
For those looking to secure even longer-term savings, we recommend locking in a two-year subscription. This option ensures that you retain today’s pricing for a full 24 months, protecting your business from the 5–10% price increases expected in FY26 and beyond. By committing to a longer cycle, you not only avoid unexpected cost escalations but also give your teams the stability they need to plan projects and budgets more confidently.
In addition, Corptec offers strategic renewal planning. Our experts will conduct a detailed review of your current subscriptions, including Jira, Confluence, and other Atlassian Cloud products, to identify opportunities for optimisation. We will highlight where licenses are underutilised, suggest where consolidating instances could lead to savings, and make sure all upcoming renewals are timed to take advantage of current pricing before the October deadlines. Moreover, we offer special prices, which are only available with select Atlassian solution partners!
